Lunch at Hermanus’s famed seaside restaurant – Dutchies

Could you think of a better way to enjoy a scrumptious meal than with sand in your toes, wind breezing through your hair, and the sea in arm’s reach? I can’t!

Dutchies restaurant in Hermanus is by far one of the coolest restaurant spots in town and my absolute favorite! It is ideally positioned between the Olifantsberg Mountain range and the Atlantic Sea.

This restaurant has made itself a home on one of South Africa’s Blue Flag beaches (Grotto Beach) and offers picturesque views of the seaside, especially at sunset. Order one of their famed cocktails, or at a minuscule corkage fee of only R30 bring your own bottle of wine.

If you are lucky enough, witness whales breaching right from your lunch or dinner table or glance over at holidaymakers trying their hands out at volleyball.

If you are there for breakfast try out their value-for-money Dutchies Breakfast, which includes your choice of Coffee or Tea, fresh fruit juice, 2 eggs, bacon, beef sausage, tomato, mushrooms, and toast.

Their menu is diverse, with options for breakfast, light lunches, salads for the weight-conscious, and delicious light lunches, chicken, steak, and fish main meals. For dessert, they have a nice selection of homemade favorites: cheesecake, apple cake, and carrot cake.

They also have a tapas menu (although not a wide) selection, which will fill the gap.

If you are planning your visit for this coming summer, be sure to make a booking – they fill up pretty fast!
